Graveney Labour Councillors campaigned hard to save the Constitutional Club in Tooting. And we successfully prevented the owner from gaining planning permission to build a car wash, and then a 7 storey block of flats.
We also got the property listed as an Asset of Community Value. Now the current owner has decided to sell again, and being listed as an ACV offers a degree of protection from redevelopment, including allowing the local community a six month window in which to raise sufficient funds to purchase it.
Local groups now have initial until October 6 to signal their intentions to raise the necessary funds.
If you know of anyone who might be interested in working with a community group to save the building then please get in touch.
